Enter the historic town of Cromarty from the scenic coastal road, and you’ll first arrive at ‘Cromarty Camping’. Opened in Summer 2023 ‘Cromarty Camping’ is a purpose built and community run overnight motorhome campsite. Nestled at the edge of the Cromarty Firth the site offers up panoramic views across the water to Ben Wyvis, Easter Ross, Caithness and Sutherland.
From here as a base, visitors can make full use of the amenities of the town or explore the wider Black Isle, returning to enjoy the new facilities directly on site. These include private shower rooms, a washing up area, and serviced / powered bays of handstanding for motorhomes.
From the site, connect directly to this conservation town via a short and scenic beach front walk to reach the small boats harbour, working lighthouse and research centre; or enjoy the hospitality in one of two of the town’s vibrant local pubs (with craft beers on offer), or eat out one of a number of the town’s cafes or restaurants, which pride themselves on their local produce; or stock up from the local shops and foodie haunts.
Fancy a film whilst you stay? Cromarty has a thriving new purpose built local cinema, with regular weekly screenings. And if it’s an injection of arts, culture or history you are after Cromarty will not disappoint. With everything from the Cromarty Courthouse to the Cromarty Arts Trust, as haven to local artists, there is a lot going on.
And if you are seeking a little adventure, on land and sea – or total relaxation at the water’s edge – you’ll find it right here at Cromarty Camping. So stay at Cromarty Camping, as a warm and welcoming stop over from which to Savour the Unexpected on the Black Isle, or go by local ferry to explore what Easter Ross has to offer, or hook up with the NC500s east coast route.
