About us

We ARE Cromarty Community Development Trust

From grass roots initiatives through to full construction and development projects; or seeking out new opportunities and funding; or challenging and/or supporting policies which directly impact our community, we are here to make sustainable change and safeguard what is great about Cromarty.

We have improved the slipways to Cromarty and Nigg, to secure the future use of the ferry and also lobbied successfully when the Council funding was threatened.  We have purchased the Townlands Barn – the oldest building in Cromarty – to safeguard it for community use.  We have constructed the campsite – a brand new initiative – to positively support tourism, create employment and shore up the businesses in town.  We are exploring the use of the East Church Hall, and how it might be taken into community ownership and adapted (again) to provide new accommodation and continued access for the community from now forwards.

And we have so many more plans and ideas up our sleeves.

Through our work we continually seek to promote community engagement, attract new staff and volunteers to assist us with our work, and to strengthen our board and governance for the benefit of the whole town.
